World Center for Concrete Technology (WCCT) offers Tuition Free Scholarships for Montanans

Dr. Olin Joynton, President of the Alpena Community College in Michigan is partnering with Porter Block, Inc., and offering twenty tuition free education scholarships for Montanans.
Porter Block is a participant in the WCCT Partners in Progress program to test materials from Montana for possible environmentally friendly uses.†† Successful applicants will be awarded student scholarships for two years at one of the leading concrete institutions in the world, World Center for Concrete Technology, which was founded in 2000 to enhance concrete-related programs at ACC dating back to 1954. Students can return with their credits to Montana's higher educational institutes.
Dr. Joynton †and Don MacMaster, the winner †or the 2007 Recognition of Excellence award for training grant implementation from the U S Department of Labor† were recently in Montana, and held a meeting with members of the Governorís† Office of Economic Development, Department of Labor & Industry and the State Workforce Board.† MacMaster shared his success with landing and implementing ACC's recent three-year, $1.9 million Community Based Job Training Grant for concrete technology from the US Department of Labor.
†ìThe Governorís Office of Economic Development and the State Workforce Board are honored to have these scholarship opportunities offered to our Stateî, stated Dan Miles, Chairman of the State Workforce Board.
MacMaster stated, ìTheir intention is to expand new programs and provide an educated workforce for manufacturing, construction and concrete industries in Montanaî. Cement Technology provides occupational opportunities considered high wage and in high demand.
†ìMontanaís ability to be competitive in the global marketplace necessitates partnerships of this kind that engage Economic Development, Workforce Development, Business and Industry, and Education,î stated Commissioner, Keith Kelly.
Joynton and MacMaster spent last week touring Glacier National Park, several mining companies, the University of Montana, Montana Tech, MSU and other education institutions and chambers in Kalispell, Libby, Missoula, Butte, Bozeman and Helena.
