Montana Judicial Video Network

I came across an interesting report from 2006 that highlighted the success of the Montana Judicial Video Network. The numbers have only gotten better since this report was prepared but I thought it would be interesting to highlight the value of video conferencing utilization in the field of law.

It goes without saying that this success can be replicated in just about everything we do when you consider travel expenses, gas prices, salaries etc. when distances are traveled to have meetings or conduct discussions. It's time that every industry in Montana take a look at how technology can contribute to a more efficient and cost effective system. The numbers for this Network speak for themselves. Russ

The Montana Judicial Video Network, established in 2000, has evolved into a network that now extends to all 22 Montana Judicial Districts, has 38 individual sites, and carried over 1,500 hours of court related proceedings providing over $600,000 of fiscal benefits in 2005. The JVN has proven itself as an effective tool for the Judiciary and all participants of the judicial process, and the creation of the JVN Policy Advisory Council will help ensure the proper development and growth for the network. This report provides a point in time recap of the status of the network and the development of its new Policy Advisory Council, and presents several recommendations to be considered by the Office of the Court Administrator and the Council as they work jointly towards the proper growth and development of the JCN.
