Audit calls for more transparency at Montana Department of Transportation

A review of how the state Department of Transportation spends gas tax money has shown the department needs to be more transparent and efficient in how it spends some of that funding.

Two recent reports from the Legislative Audit Division call for more information about how road projects are picked for funding. The audits also found a lack of cost comparisons and communication mishaps about maintenance work have cost the department.
