Second city administrator search: Billings showing it’s willing to pay more, applicants lining up

The search for Billings’ next city administrator https://ci.billings.mt.us/DocumentCenter/View/36791/Billings-City-Administrator-Recruitment-Brochure-Final-Aug–Sept-2018 is on track to have the person running City Hall by fall, Mayor Bill Cole said Friday.

"We don’t have a lot of time to lose, so we need to move expeditiously," Cole said.

In a Wednesday email to council members, Cole said that Springsted/Waters, the firm hired to recruit the successor to City Administrator Bruce McCandless, reports that 10 people had applied for the city’s top job by mid-week.

This time around, the salary range being circulated by Springsted/Waters in a recruitment brochure is between $165,000 and $190,000. Cole said that range is based on salary data compiled from cities and counties with populations near that of Billings.
